Do I need to download anything or sign up?
No. Open pewpewpew.io, pick a name and press Play now. There is no download and no account.
Does it work on a phone or tablet?
Yes. On a touch screen you fly with an on-screen stick and use the FIRE and USE buttons. On a computer you use the keyboard.
What do I need to run it?
A recent browser with WebGL2, which nearly every phone, tablet and computer from the last few years has.
What are the controls?
Arrow keys or WASD to fly, Space to fire, E, Ctrl or Shift to use a power-up and Tab for the scoreboard. You can change every key in Settings.
Are there bots?
Yes. Open rooms fill up with bots when few people are flying, and the bots leave as more people join. In a room of your own you choose how many bots fly, and they carry a robot mark.
Can I play with my friends?
Yes. Press Play with friends, pick the room's rules, then send the link. Your friends join your room from the link.
How is the score counted?
Your score is your kills minus your deaths.
Which server do I play on?
Rooms run in North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific. The game measures your ping to each and puts you in the fastest one. If another region would be much faster, the game over screen offers to move you there.
Which languages does it speak?
Many, from English and Spanish to Japanese, Hindi and Arabic. It picks your browser's language by itself, and you can switch to any other on the join screen, bottom left.
Is it like Asteroids?
A little: you fly a ship that turns and drifts in a field of rocks that break apart when you shoot them. But in PewPewPew the other ships are pilots, and you fight them for the top of the scoreboard. More on Asteroids online.
Is PewPewPew the same game as PewPew Live?
No. PewPewPew is a different game: a multiplayer space shooter at pewpewpew.io by funny.io, played in the browser.
Who makes it?
funny.io. It is a remake of a multiplayer space shooter from the Flash days, by the same maker.
